We’re home, after nine weeks on the road for this latest book tour. The daunting tasks of unloading and cleaning the RV are done, but the mountainous tasks of laundry and getting the house decorated for Christmas loom like monsters ready to eat me. So here I sit. Staring at the computer screen. Thinking, “I really need to blog. I’m so behind.”
And then… nothing. My mind went totally blank. Thoughts like, “I don’t have anything cute to say. Nothing of great import. I’m way too boring.”
You all know this to be true, right?
The last nine weeks started to flood back in…
Suspicious police report filed in Arkansas
Low bridge in Niagara Falls
State troopers coming to stop traffic on the highway (because of me! LOL)
A broken tooth
An abscess tooth
A slide motor coming completely disengaged
Shimmying my 55-foot rig out of a park that was WAY too small
Backing up said 55-foot rig. Over and over and over and over
Meeting some of the coolest truck drivers ever. (Gotta love truckers who want to buy your books at truck stops!)
Meeting a fireman who answered a call to our house fire over a decade ago at an RV park (while dumping sewage no less!)
A flat tire on the way to Crater Lake (Karen and Don – you all are amazing) 🙂
An emergency stop on a trolley ride (I think I scared everyone out of their wits on that one)
Getting chewed out by a grumpy RV park owner in Portland
Meeting and speaking to thousands upon thousands of amazing people
Getting to hear from readers all over the country
Hearing thousands of kids laugh and sing along with the puppet troupe
Connecting with friends from years ago
Visiting 24 states
Driving over 10,000 miles and seeing the vast and various landscapes of our great country
Seeing national parks, historical monuments, and amazing museums
Being loved on by more people than I could imagine…
Yeah, my life is a little on the boring side. But I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
