The Battle for Satisfaction

I don’t know about you, but the past few years have been a bit more difficult than most for me. (And I’m not just talking about COVID, even though that has been a huge factor.)

The last few months have been chaos. From October through the end of December, I had three different, awful respiratory illnesses that knocked me off my feet. My Dad has been in and out of the hospital. Several of my friends lost their battles here on earth with disease–but gained Heaven. A lot of life-changing events have occurred.

Through it all–It is well. God is Almighty God. My lungs are healing and I’m slowly getting back to full strength. We will navigate our way through all the crazy stuff.

As with every, fresh new year, I like to make goals. They aren’t necessarily resolutions, but it’s not a problem if you call them that. <grin> Since I’m a planner, I like to make goals for the year, for the next three years, five years, etc.

The biggest one this year had to do with the fact that I will be turning the monumental 5-0. I’d love to reach my health goals by then, but I also understand that my focus can’t be on that. It’s got to be on Jesus.

That leads me to what I want to share with you today.

Several years ago, I stumbled upon a book by Asheritah Ciuciu entitled, Full. I remembered meeting her at an event we both attended and after reading the back cover, I knew I needed the book. So I picked it up. And the companion journal too. It would be a while before I went through the book the first time. (My TBR stack is ever-growing.) But I wish I would have started it immediately. It’s INCREDIBLE.

It’s not a diet plan. It’s not an exercise plan. It’s not a “do-this-and-you’ll-lose-weight” plan.

It’s a focus-on-Jesus plan. Build-a-stronger-relationship-with-Him plan. Understand-your-relationship-with-food plan. The subtitle really says it all: Food, Jesus, and the Battle for Satisfaction.

That brings me to last September. I was at our ACFW national conference and saw a familiar face. Asheritah. For some cool reason I don’t know, God chose to cross our paths again. But this time, we spent some amazing heart-to-heart, soul-bonding, beautiful-connection time together. I have to say, it was some of the most refreshing moments I’ve ever spent with ANYONE. Asheritah has become a dear friend. I love this woman to pieces. And let me tell you, she is the real deal. There’s no facade. She has been gifted by our Father above to encourage women in a beautiful way. So I want to pass that encouragement on to you. Check out Asheritah’s site here

I’m now going through the book again. Started over with the journal. I’m also going through her book Prayers of Rest, and looking forward to growing closer and closer to Jesus this year. I’m still #walkingandwriting and loving the community we are building with #AMillionMilesWithKim – join us here at amillionmileswithkim.com if you haven’t already. Most of all, I hope you will pick up this powerful book and continue your own journey to a deeper relationship with Jesus.

  1. Remember when your health hits rock bottom, the only way to go is up. “We can do all things thru Christ who strengths us.”I was hospitalized in Jan. for internal bleeding and am still dealing with the results of this. The bleeding has stopped (PTL) but the doctors want to find out why I was bleeding.
