Hey there and welcome! My name is Kimberley Woodhouse and I’m wife to Jeremy, mom to Josh and Kayla (Ruth and Steven), and Nana to the most adorable baby on the planet. I love all things story and when I’m not writing, you’ll find me reading, at my piano, playing golf with my hubby, or out in my kayak. My latest release (my 27th published book!) is an historical romance—A DEEP DIVIDE

Emma Grace has been running for years. She has nothing… and everything to lose.

After being kidnapped as a child, Emma Grace has seen firsthand the devastation that greed causes, and she wants nothing to do with it. She sneaks away, planning to stay hidden even if it means always looking over her shoulder. Working as a Harvey Girl at the El Tovar Hotel at the Grand Canyon, she meets Ray Watkins. But someone is after her and she questions all she’s known to be true as her world is turned upside-down.

The Grand Canyon is one of my favorite places. Have you ever been there?

Authors are strange creatures. The creative process is different for each of us. You just never know how a story will spark in our minds.

A Deep Divide started in mine over twelve years ago. The first spark came after asking the Rangers 500 million questions, I dared to ask, “How many people die in the Canyon each year?” Not that I’m a morbid person, I’m… simply curious. Then I found out there’s actually an entire book written about just that. It’s titled, Death in Grand Canyon. Imagine that. And yes, I bought the book. 😉

But what really brought the series idea to life was an interpretive sign that gave a bit of history from the 1500s. (Picture below.)

From there, my brain skittered in a thousand different directions. I wanted to use that somewhere in the Secrets of the Canyon series, and then I also wanted to use the Harvey Girls and the absolutely incredible, historic El Tovar Hotel which is still on the rim of the Canyon today.

So with lots of mystery, history, and a cast of fun characters, the Secrets of the Canyon series was born. When Bethany House Publishers contracted it a decade later, I was overjoyed to get to bring you these stories.

Here’s the Stop #6 Basics:

If you’re interested, you can order A Deep Divide on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, CBD,  Baker Book House, or at your local bookstore!

  1. I have read a couple of the Daughters of the Mayflower books and loved them. The Grand Canyon is an amazing demonstration of God’s power, majesty, and beauty. I’ve been there twice in my life and hope to visit it again one day. Thank you for the opportunity to win one of your books!

  5. The Grand Canyon is very special to me. I have been many times. It was in the depths of the Canyon here I fell in love with my husband.
We own “Death in the Grand Canyon”. My great-uncle died in a commercial airlines’ crash over the Grand Canyon (mentioned in the book). His sister, my grandma, grieved his loss deeply and refused to ever board an airplane.
I am so excited to read “A Deep Divide”! I have read several of your “Bride” stories and have “The Patriot Bride” to pick up from the library today ❤️.
Thank you for being a part of the scavenger hunt!

  25. I have been to the Grand Canyon; twice. Once with my family when I was a teenager. It was summer; it was hot; I was miserable! I don’t remember much about the trip other than being HOT! The second time was with my family of 6 when our kiddos were little. It was in December. We took a train ride into the Grand Canyon. It was beautiful! Lovely sunset; fun train ride. My kids (some ten years later) still talk about that trip.

I have yet to read one of Kimberly Woodhouse’s books, but I’m looking forward to the privilege.
