Hey y’all! I’m Kimberley Woodhouse (in case you’re new here) and I’ve got almost 50 books out in the wild so far. Fiction and non-fiction. You can find them all here on my site – just visit the Books page.  You can also find more about me on socials: Facebook and Instagram  – I’d love to connect with you there. If you’re wondering about specific genres, I’ve written romantic suspense, historical romance, historical (with suspense), thrillers, devotionals, our family’s story with Extreme Makeover, and probably others that I’m forgetting at the moment. When it all comes down to it, I love STORY. And more than anything else, I love the Giver of story.

My latest release is A Song in the Dark – which is WWII fiction. This book is very special to me, because it is the story I’ve been sitting on the longest. I wanted to write this almost two decades ago, but WWII wasn’t really even a genre yet in Christian fiction, and–to be completely honest–I needed to grow a lot as an author.

About A SONG IN THE DARK:
Her music captivates crowds. His mission exposes secrets. Their courage defies a dictator.

Against the simmering backdrop of impending war, blind virtuoso pianist Chaisley Frappier embarks on a concert tour through a rapidly changing Europe. When she learns that Hitler’s regime of injustice is targeting other disabled people, Chaisley realizes she is in a prime position to help those who are threatened reach safety. But the Führer’s growing fascination with the celebrated musician endangers her undercover mission and forces her to walk a tightrope between her fame and her calling. When Rick Zimmerman receives his next assignment from the British Secret Intelligence Service, he is surprised to learn he’ll be acting as the personal driver of a world-renowned pianist as she tours Europe. The role gives him the perfect cover to complete missions of sabotage and intelligence-gathering, but he soon suspects the brilliant, alluring pianist has secrets of her own. As Chaisley and Rick confront evil at every turn, it will take every bit of faith and courage they possess to triumph over hate–and survive.

You might have noticed that the heroine’s name in this story is very unique. Her last name–Frappier–is actually a family name. And I dedicated this book to my beloved grandparents, Ray and Dot Frappier. Chaisley, is incredibly different. So you might be wondering how we, as authors, come up with our characters’ names. I told you that I’ve been wanting to write this story for decades. I had the first quarter of it written way back in 2005. But the heritage of my character was not only French, but English, German, and Dutch as well. I wanted a name that would be as lovely as the melodies she plays while also standing out since my character was to be the world’s most renowned pianist of her time.

When a beautiful young girl came to an event where I was speaking and signing books back in 2011, I knew I’d found the name. Meeting the “real” Chaisley when she was a young teen gave me the picture of my heroine. I knew in an instant and asked this sweet girl and her parents if it would be all right with them for me to name my main character after her. I couldn’t find that first picture we took back in 2011, but I just reconnected with Chaisley and she sent me this picture of us together at another book signing in 2016.

Chaisley and Kim

Chaisley and Kim 2016

I don’t always name my characters after people I know. When I do, it has a very special purpose. Just like beautiful Chaisley. I can’t wait for the “real” Chaisley to read A Song in the Dark and tell me what she thinks of the story that she’s heard about for so many years.  But… She told me maybe her name will start showing up in baby-naming books now. <wink>

  1. My favorite genre is either Historical Romance or Romantic Suspense–depends on the day.😁 I’m excited to read A Song in the Dark, because I think the premise of a blind female pianist is intriguing. I’ve been teaching myself to play the pennywhistle.

    1. I don’t really have a favorite genre. I read almost anything if it’s Christian. I would like to read Song in the Dark as it is set in one of my favorite time periods in history.

    2. I love historical romance (and have been getting into some contemporary as well). Authors like Roseanna M White and Amanda Dykes are among my favorites. The WWII intrigue in this book sounds right up my alley! I do play the piano and a little guitar but my real musical love is singing and songwriting 🙂

  2. I love historical Christian fiction, especially WWII, and romantic suspense. I want to read A Song in the Dark because it has such special meaning to you. I took piano lessons for three years before my oldest kids were born but I haven’t played with any consistency since they were born.

  3. Hi Kim, my favorite genre of Christian fiction is Historical Romance. I’d absolutely LOVE to read your latest book, A Song in the Dark! I do play the piano, a little bit. I took piano lessons for a couple of years when I was in elementary school. But sight-reading music was never my strong suit; I was much better at playing by ear.

  4. I usually gravitate towards Biblical historical fiction, but I’m fascinated by your storyline! I love the idea of the heroine bravely working against the regime that would eliminate her and others like her. I play a little guitar and piano, but never practiced as much as I should have, so I have great respect for the incredible musicians who can play with more skill!

  5. You don’t have to enter me since I have the book – though I could pass it on. My favorite genre’ is Christian fiction. I already read your book, and it was awesome and sobering, and I play the piano and organ. Though it has been a long time for the latter. 🙂

As for musical instruments, I don’t play any very well, although I am trying to learn piano and acoustic guitar. Violins are also very beautiful but I’ve never been any good at playing one! Thank you for this opportunity!

  105. I enjoy reading Christian historical fiction as well as Christian romance books among others. Your books have always been some of my favorites to read. When I was younger, I played the violin.

  106. I love all romance honestly but historical is a favorite of mine and amish stories. I don’t play any instruments.

  107. I love reading historical romance and sometime, more recently, romantic suspense. Truthfully I am very excited about your new book. It just feels so capitivating. I played the clarinet through school.

  108. Hello! I enjoy a multitude of Christian genres. I am most interested in WWII books because my dad was born and raised in The Netherlands during that time, he was in his teens. He and his brother hid under the floorboards at their home from the Dutch Army as they were taking teens to help fight. My dad finally turned himself in because he didn’t want his parents to suffer the consequences if they were found. His brother ran away. During my dad’s physical, he had a non-functioning heart artery so they released him from enlisting.

I tried playing the piano. Didn’t get much practice as I didn’t own one.

  109. I love historical fiction- especially the time of WWII ! I can’t wait to read that book!
I played the piano as a child but I wasn’t very good😔 my kids have musical talent and play, piano, trumpet, and flute ( so far I have a few small ones that will also have to find their favorite instrument)
    Nice to meet you!

  110. I love Christian Fiction and Romantic Suspense. Your book sounds like something I would enjoy tremendously. I play the piano and was our Church pianist for years before I moved. That was when the old hymns were played in churches, not the stuff that sounds like rock music, except for the words, that they play now. Other than old hymns, I love to play classical music. I’ve won numerous awards, including 7th place in the annual writers digest competition, for my short stories about how God has worked in my life. I plan to put them together in a book. I’m also writing my first novel, a romantic suspense.

    1. I love Christian Fiction and especially Biblical fiction stories. I enjoy Historical fiction and nonfiction, especially the classics. One of my favorite time periods to read about lately has been WWII, so your book sounds especially enticing. I played piano for 3 years as a teenager. I still have my great grandmother’s antique upright piano and practice occasionally on it.

  111. I really enjoy historical Christian’s fiction. I have enjoyed your stories so much and I love the suspense in them. So I would love to read your newest book! When I was younger I played the clarinet in our church orchestra,

  112. Favorite well that’s hard to say. I mean I definitely have been enjoy a particular time travel author. 😉 (IYKYK), of course I’ve always loved Amish stories as well. But mostly I just look for characters I connect with. Your latest sounds very interesting and I love the back story of her name! And as for an instrument well I “played” the clarinet in elementary school and I can finger peck at a piano but truly the best “instrument” I play is a playlist/CD player 😂

  113. I like almost all Christian fiction. I facilitate a CF book club at my church. I’m especially fond of Christian Suspense. I would love to read your book as I’ve not read any of your books. I can play the piano and I played trombone in high school many years ago.

  114. My absolute favorite is World War 2 Christian historical fiction.
I never learned an instrument. I don’t think they even had the recorders when I went to school!

  115. My favorite genre is historical fiction. I do not play an instrument. Being an army brat and an Air Force wife I am always in for a good war book!

  116. I love all Christian fiction, and I’ve loved every book you have written that I have read. So, I’d love to read this latest one too. I do not play an instrument, but my mother taught me the basics about reading music by teaching me beginning piano playing. I also played beginning viola and clarinet in my middle school band, but I did not continue with any of the three musical instruments. However, I do enjoy listening to music.

  117. My favorite genre of Christian Fiction is between Fantasy or WWII. I’m on a deep dive into the Christian WWII Fiction genre and this book sounds absolutely stunning! The idea of a blind pianist protagonist is so interesting and I’m always so excited to read protagonists that are unique. I can play the guitar and piano (still learning the piano)

  118. Hi, my favourite is biblical fiction with historical fiction, especially medieval and world war two periods of history. I’m a history major.

Your book sounds interesting, reminds me of Bodie Thoene’s Zion Covenant series, where the main protagonist Elisa Lindheim is first chair with the Vienna Philharmonic.

I don’t play any instrument, sadly, but I love to listen to music – Gospel, instrumental, vocals, classical.

  119. I think historical might be my favorite. Yours sounds very interesting. I haven’t played an instrument since I was in high school.

  120. I read different genres within Christian fiction, but more Historical Romance than others. Your new book sounds like a beautiful blend of history, character development and music. I play the piano and dabble with hammered dulcimer and bowed psaltry.

  121. I love Christian historical books the best. Your new book looks interesting, and I can’t wait to read it! I play the piano and have since I was in elementary school.

  122. My favorite genre is historical fiction from any time in history. I haven’t read your books yet so I’m excited to do so.

  123. My favorite genre of Christian fiction is Historical. I play a tiny bit of piano. I look forward to A Song in the Dark to discover this period of history from a unique perspective.

  124. My fav genre, at the moment, is Christian Romantic suspense, but I read most Christian genres.
I play the paino and played the French Horn from 6th grade till I graduated from HS.

  125. I love romantic suspense. I would like to read your book because I also love history and WWII is peace of history I love learning about. I play the violin.

  126. My favorite books to read are historical fiction. Your book sounds interesting and a bit scary. I played the piano for several years but don’t play often now.

  127. My two favorite genres and Amish and Christian fiction, mostly romance. Yes, I’d like to read your newest book because I’m vision impaired, and Dad was a WWII vet. I used to play the piano.

  128. I like all of the christian fiction genres. Too hard to pick a favorite. I want to read your newest book because it sounds like a really interesting and engaging story . I have really enjoyed some of your other books. I play piano.

  129. Oh my – it’s so difficult to choose because I love all kinds of Christmas settings. I love contemporary, however historical holds a special place in my heart as well.

  130. I love reading WW2 historical novels and this one has a pianist as the main character. Being a pianist myself this adds one very compelling reason to read this book. I’m going to suggest “A Song in the Dark” to my book club.

  131. My favorites are historical romances. I’m also blind so your book is intriguing because I wonder how she coped with blindness during wartime. I used to play the violin & piano when I was a kid, but I just enjoy good music now. I tried relearning to play violin a few years ago but it was too hard to read the sheet music any more. There’s Braille music code, but Braille is also hard to learn. So I listen and enjoy instead!

  132. My favorite genre of Christian fiction is clean romcoms.

I would enjoy your latest release for many different reasons. I’m a music lover and a musician myself, plus I love World War II stories. Also, this book is too unique for me to pass up reading.

I play the guitar and ukulele. I can also play piano by ear, but not really well. I’ve been playing the guitar for fourteen years now and the ukulele for eight.

  133. I love historical fiction because I get new history lessons all the time wrapped in a good story. Your new release appeals to me because it has to do with music! I played the clarinet back in high school and can play a little piano now.

  134. My favourite CF genre depends on my current mood. Perhaps my most favourite though, if I must choose, is a good romance with some suspense. I also love a story that makes me stop and research as I read. I’ve learnt so much history through reading CF!
A Song in the Dark sounds intriguing, it is already on my TBR list 😉
As for an instrument? I play the piano, but very ill indeed.

  135. I love Christian historical romance or Christian suspense. I would love to read A Song in the Dark because I’m a huge fan of WW II fiction, and I can’t even imagine having to navigate and live through that time completely blind. I haven’t played since junior high but I used to play the piano and clarinet.

  136. My favorite genre is historical fiction! Your book sounds so intriguing–it’s on my wish list. I’ve read several of your other books and loved them. I play the piano, the guitar, and the ukulele, although I haven’t played for quite a while, as I have some problems with my hands. 🙁

  137. Contemporary fiction with a focus on family! If loveeee to read your book because I really need to read more books from the world wars. I don’t play an instrument, but as a child I did learn piano basics and some vilion.

  138. My favorite type of book is a mystery or thriller. I play the piano, I took lessons for ten years, starting when I was six. My parents were part of the Greatest Generation. My dad, every uncle, and my husband’s grandfather were all in the war, while the women left behind were part of the homefront–my aunt even worked in an airplane factory. They are all gone now, so stories from that era are always near to my heart. You have a real different approach to your story, that sounds very intriguing, so would love to read what you wrote.

  139. I enjoy Christian Fiction and flip flop between the various genres included within Christian fiction.
I played instruments in my past (cornet, guitar, handbells), but do not currently play.
I love the way you picked your heroine’s name and it is so sweet that you have stayed in touch!

  140. I typically like christian romantic suspense, but I will read anything christian based book. This books looks interesting.

  141. Hi Kim! I was so excited to see you were participating in this. 😀 (I’m Bella Raine from the Author Conservatory!) My favorite genre of Christian fiction is historical, and WWII fiction especially catches my eye. So, I would love to read your book for a bunch of reasons… 1- because it’s WWII Christian fiction 2- because I would love to read one of the books my instructor has written! 3- because I also play piano and have for many years. So, yes, lots of reasons why I’d love to read this book! And I already answered the final question, but yes, I play piano and have for probably 8 years?
I subscribed to your newsletter and blog and can’t wait to follow along!
    <3,

  142. My favorite genres are definitely Christian historical romance or Christian suspense – depending on my mood. I’m interested in reading this book because lately I’ve been on a WWII historic novel kick and this one seems like it would fit in quite nicely. I used to play a keyboard/piano about 25 years ago, but haven’t touched an instrument in a long while.

  143. A romance mystery is my favorite. Your book sounds wonderful! I played drums in school… haven’t for many years.

  144. I really enjoy historical fiction. I also enjoy reading biographies. I am a pianist and look forward to reading your latest novel!

  145. My favorite genre of Christian fiction is probably fantasy, but your historical fiction book sounds fascinating! I love that it includes a character with a disability. I don’t play an instrument, but I do love to sing. 🙂

  146. Historical fiction seems to be my favorite genre. I do not play a musical instrument. Thank you for the giveaway opportunities.

  147. My favorite genre is Romantic Suspense but I do love historical romance also. I have always loved to sing and am always intrigued by books that are centered around music 🙂

  148. My favourtite genres of books are Historical Fiction, Suspense, and Split Time!
I would like to read “Song in the Dark” because I love WWII books!
And yes, I play instruments…. the guitar and ukulele!

  149. I read most genres of Christian fiction, but historical and romantic suspense are my favorite. I would love to read your book because I am also writing in the WWII time period. I know the basics on piano and clarinet, but wouldn’t claim to be good at either. Thanks for this opportunity.

  150. I love historical fiction and suspense, though I do also have a soft spot for Christian fantasy. Your book sounds so interesting I love the World War 2 aspect. The story behind the name for the main character is so cool!! I’m also learning piano!

  151. I read and enjoy all genres which is a good thing because that way when someone comes into the church library and asks if I have read something I can say yes and based on what they generally tell them how they might enjoy it to

  152. I love historical fiction. In fact, I am writing one now based on a time in my family heritage. It feels uncomforable to use my last name in the book since I’m so familiar with it, but censuses show that our family was in the original town and in the destination town at that time in history. I wonder how you feel about using your family name in the book?

I play piano and I helped a blind musician with her compositions while I was in music school. She wrote and sang beautiful music.

    This book sounds fascinating!

  153. I’ve never read Christian Fiction before, but your book sounds good! I’m interested in books that are set during World War II, especially romantic ones.

  154. My top fav genre is specifically WWII historical fiction (so, obvi why I would like to read your book)! 🙂 However, I’ve recently discovered Irene Hannon and her contemporary romantic suspense is quickly become fav #2!

No instruments. I took piano lessons as a little girl and then tried to relearn in college, but never stuck with practice very well. I now just enjoy my daughter’s piano and flute playing. 🙂

  155. I don’t have a favorite genre. I have enjoyed your other books, and can’t wait to read this new one. I used to play the piano when I was younger.

  156. I love historical fiction and suspense. So what you write Kim!
I used to play the violin in grade school…too many years ago.

  157. Hi Kimberley,
I am excited to read your new book and enjoyed learning how you chose the name Chaisley, very interesting! This does not sound like a typical plot, but involves danger, mystery, and a battle over evil, which sounds intriguing. I especially like WWII novels and learning how the common person might have thought, felt, and acted to the political climate. Christian Historical Fiction is my favorite genre and am thankful when authors carefully research, so I learn accurately. I had trouble remembering history in school and did not enjoy the subject much. I find that reading about fictional characters in a certain time frame teaches me so much more, and the facts stay in my brain longer! I used to play the piano, but when my daughter surpassed my limited skill, I just listen to her now. I wish she lived closer, but she sometimes sends me videos which I enjoy. Thank you. It has been nice to get to know a little about you.

  158. I’m right now reading my way through the books you wrote with Tracie Peterson and I’ve loved all I’ve read so far. Can’t wait to read more! Mostly I read historical fiction but I like when there is mysteries or suspense in the stories. I read most genres depending on my mood I guess.

  159. I am a big fan of historical fiction, and I’m excited to find another WW2 book to add to my TBR pile! I am… able to play piano, but haven’t consistently since college.

  160. My favorite genres to read are historical fiction and mystery/suspense. I would like to read A Song in the Dark because it incapsulates these two of my favorite genres. I also enjoy reading the time period of World War II. I come from a very musical family so the aspect of music being a prime aspect of the story also intrigues me. I play the piano, the clarinet, the flute, and the guitar. Thank you for a chance to win a copy of this book, Kimberley!

  161. CF Historical is my favorite genre, I LOVE your books, and no I don’t play an instrument.

Thank you for the extra giveaway & participating in the scavenger hunt Kim!

  162. My favorite genre of Christian fiction is historical or contemporary. I especially enjoy stories with duel timelines. I played the piano from age 5 to sophomore year, and the flute and piccolo in junior high & high school. My junior year I joined the jazz band and learned the saxophone, and as an adult I have been trying to learn the guitar. Music has always been a part of my life, which is one reason I would love to read this book.

  163. My favorite genre is suspense/thriller, but I love all genres outside of sci-fi/fantasy (those are my husband’s genres of choice). Though I love the adrenaline rush of a good thriller, I enjoy learning more about history and what my parents, grandparents, great-grandparents and so on likely faced in their lifetimes. WWII is a favorite era of mine when reading historical fiction (second only to Biblical times). Though I don’t play any instruments, I do sing and grew up in a very musical household. My dad and grandmother both played the piano. My brother can play just about any instrument he picks up (he writes music and creates his own soundtrack by recording each instrument individually and mixing it in his basement studio) and 3 of my nieces play orchestral instruments and the youngest has added piano as well. So, I do especially enjoy stories about musicians as well. I’ve also heard all kinds of great things about this book!

  164. I love them all but lean towards historical romance books. I also play the piano but it’s been awhile. Sold my piano when we moved to our mountain cabin … made me very sad because I loved to play!! Can’t wait to read some of your books!!! I’m an AVIDE reader!

  165. My favorite genre is romantic suspense. I’d like to read your latest book because it sounds amazing, and I love the story behind it. I don’t play an instrument.

  166. I like Christian mystery books. I look forward to reading your book because I also enjoy books based on historical events. I do not play any instruments.

  167. Historical fiction is my favorite, which is why I’d love to read your new book! I don’t play an instrument, but I’ve always wanted to learn to play the piano.

  168. I like different genres of Christian fiction – I like mysteries/suspense, contemporary fiction and historical fiction (especially those that cover the Harvey Girls). I always enjoy having some clean romance in the books. I look forward to reading your new book because it sounds like it will include some of the genres I like – historical, suspense and a little bit of romance. The fact that Chaisley is a blind pianist adds an extra level of intrigue. I have read many of your books and enjoyed them. I play the piano, flute and handbells. I played the piccolo and penny whistle many years ago.

  169. My favorite genre is historical fiction, like this book!

I play the piano–it has been my constant companion since I was about 5 years old, if not earlier.

  170. My favorite genre of Christian fiction is historical, but especially 1900s—which is why I’d love to read your book, because WWII is a big passion of mine 😉 I don’t play an instrument, though I took piano as a kid and would like to continue, but I do sing 🙂

  171. My favorite genre is romantic suspense because Justice is served at the end. I like to read stories where people stood up to injustice at great cost to themselves. I do not play any instruments.

  172. I like mostly romance. Your book sounds really interesting. I used to play piano years ago but when I reached high school I stopped.

  173. I love reading a lot of different types of Christian fiction, but my favorite genre recently would have to be contemporary romance. My mom and I have been discussing how it has become harder to find Christian fiction books since many of the physical storefronts have disappeared. This event has really opened up more authors that I didn’t know about previously. As for this book, I love the WWII time period, and this books seems like a fresh approach to WWII topics, incorporating the spy and musician. Lastly, as for instruments, I took piano and violin lessons, but never of those stuck. Instead, I just enjoy the talents of others.

  174. My favorite genre is Christian Historical Romance but I love all Christian Fiction. I am excited to read your latest book because I’ve been really interested in WWII lately. I unfortunately don’t play an instrument but I have a keyboard at home that I’ve been trying to learn to play for years but have never really gotten into it.

  175. I enjoy many different genres of Christian but my top favorites are historical fiction- specifically WW2 and romantic suspense. I would love to read your book because it sounds right up my alley! I have been playing piano for 20 years.

  176. Right now it is Romantic Suspense, However I am so excited to read your boo “A Song in the Dark”. I’ve always like reading about this time period.

  177. My favorite genre of Christian fiction is when it’s a mix: historical romance adventure, or fantasy mystery comedy–something like that with the best of each genre! A Song in the Wind seems like a sweet historical adventure right up my alley. I play piano for my youth group’s worship team!

  178. I love historical Christian fiction, I’d like to read your latest book because I enjoy finding new authors to follow, and while I’ve always wanted to play piano or violin, I never had much of a chance to learn- maybe in my twilight years!

  179. Hi! Thank you for the opportunity to win a copy of your novel. My favourite type of fiction is historical – especially if it’s a timeslip as well. I’d like to read your book because I’m a huge fan of WWII fiction – I love learning more about history through the perspective of the characters. And I play piano.

  180. I have a hard time choosing a favorite Christian fiction genre. I enjoy reading historical, historical romance (of many eras), contemporary, dual timeline, romantic suspense, and cozy mysteries. I like to vary my reading. I’m so glad we have so many excellent choices!

  181. I love romantic suspense and historical fiction. I’d love to read this book because of your words about it being the story you’ve held onto all this time. Plus, WW2 fiction is some of my favorite. I play the piano.

  182. I enjoy reading Christian fiction romance and historical Christian books. It’s so fun being able to travel back in time and watch a budding romance come to life as they navigate through struggles of their time and escape the troubles of the world we live in today. I guess you could say I have a heart that longs for simpler times.
I want to read your book because I am also intrigued by WWII genre because there is a special place in my heart for our Jewish brothers and sisters and the lesser known groups of people that were also persecuted during that time. The more we know about that time the better we can prevent repeating history.
I played violin from 5th grade to 9th grade.

  183. My favorite genre is historical reads, especially inspirational and biblical.
Your book has such an intriguing plot, I would love to read it!
I played the piano in elementary school and haven’t played it since but enjoy really enjoy a wide variety of music.

  184. My favorite genres of Christian fiction are historical, suspense, and Amish fiction. I so enjoy your books! Thanks for being part of this fun scavenger hunt.

  185. Thanks for the chance to win. I enjoy historical fiction and love the unusual name of your protagonist. I don’t play an instrument, but I love to sing.

  186. My favorite genre of Christian fiction is romance or romantic suspense; I’d like to read your latest release because I enjoy books set during WWII; and I’ve never learned to play an instrument.

  187. Book sounds interesting, but you might need a pronunciation guide for the unique names (I have butchered some names & words rather badly that learned by reading & guessing how they sound).

  188. I love historical fiction and WWII in particular. I would love to read your book because it sounds different than any others I have read. I don’t play an instrument but my children have played or now play piano, clarinet, trombone, trumpet, viola and percussion.

  189. I enjoy many genres, but I love when Christian fantasy is done really well. I want to read your book because I also love historicals, and the idea of a blind pianist and British Secret Intelligence Service agent joining together against the enemy sounds so intriguing! Sadly, I don’t play an instrument, though. I tried to learn piano as a kid and never had any passion for it. I’m just not the type to like performing in front of people, which is probably why I love writing and crafting instead. It’s private until I’m ready to share, and then people don’t stare at me while they enjoy my work. 😂

  190. My favorites are Christian historical fiction, biblical historical fiction, and Christian romance suspense/mystery. Your new book sounds very intriguing and I would love to read it!! I learned to play the piano as a child, but unfortunately I haven’t kept up the skill in my adult years.

  191. I love historical fiction the best!!! Your new book is one of my favorite books of this year!!!! And I play violin and piano.

  192. Since we entered a difficult journey with our addicted son, my taste has leaned more toward lighter Christian rom-com, or romantic historical fiction. Yes, I play an Eb Alto Horn, or tenor horn. I was raised in The Salvation Army and learned to play at age 7. At one point, my brothers called me “metallic lips” because I was practicing 4-5 hours a day. I still own a horn, but at 60 and no longer with TSA, I rarely play, but still miss those brass banding memories. Your WWII book with music sounds incredibly interesting.

  193. I’m usually a fan of contemporary Christmas fiction, but I have loved the WWII era since middle school & I’m loving all the WWII era Christian fiction being published recently!

  194. I love clean romance historical fiction. I just discovered some amazing Christian authors this year who interweave faith into their books and I love it. Your book sounds perfect for me. I play piano, though not very well.

  195. My favorite is contemporary, but I do like www2 as well which is why I’d like to read you book. I don’t play an instrument

  196. I love sooo many genres! It’s fun to read a wide range of stories and drawn into so many different worlds. I enjoy historical fiction, suspense, mystery, fantasy, etc. Your latest book seems quite intriguing and reminds me a bit of the bravery of Esther. I’m excited to see how the story unfolds. I play the flute.

  197. Historical fiction is my go-to genre to read. I love reading and music, so your latest release, A Song in the Dark, looks like a book that I would enjoy. I am a librarian who plays the piano, which gives more impetus to do so.

  198. My favorite genre is Mystery, but I read a little of everything. And I love reading historical fiction, so your book is perfect for me.

  199. I enjoy western historical fiction the most. You’re a new author to me and I can’t wait to read your new book. I play the accordion since I was a child but unfortunately don’t get it out that often.

  200. I love Historical Christian Fiction. I love when Christ’s love and redemption comes through in ways we don’t always see or practice in our lives.

  201. My favorite is either christian romance or fantasy. I’d love to read your books because I’m trying to branch out of my style. No instruments.

  202. I’ve loved the romantic suspense books of yours that I’ve read, and WWII books are among my next favorites, so I definitely want to read this one!

  203. I enjoy reading Christian fiction, especially romance (contemporary and historical) and Amish.
I took piano and guitar lessons many many years ago but haven’t kept up with the practice. My time now is spent reading and reviewing books and crocheting.

  204. My favorites are Amish, Christmas, and historical and others. I would enjoy reading it because it would be clean romance and interesting to read. I played clarinet from 5th grade through 10th grade in school.

  205. My favorite genre is probably historical fiction! I think the premise of a blind pianist working to help others during WW2 is so interesting and inspiring. And I can play the piano but not very well 🙂

  206. My favourite genres are Regency, medieval and western but I’ll pretty much read anything Christian Fiction. I’m fascinated by stories about blind people and how they navigate life so intrigued to read this one. Sadly not a drop of musical talent in this body 😉.

  207. Can my favorite genre be the one I am currently reading?! No…okay, then I guess I would have to go with Contemporary Romance, although I enjoy so many! I would love to read your book because I have read previous works by you and enjoyed them, and because I met you last year at Reader Rendezvous. I do not play any instruments, I didn’t have the opportunity to learn as a child, and I have tried to learn as an adult, but I spend too much time reading to practice an instrument, LOL! Have a wonderful week!

  208. My favorite genre is Christian contemporary or suspense but I read them all!
I want to read a Song in the Dark because it’s set in a time period I don’t know that much about and I’d love to learn more.
I don’t play an instrument now, but I played clarinet in high school 🙂

  209. My favorite genre is historical fiction. I’d love to read your new book because it sounds really interesting and I love the idea of a blind woman being an amazing pianist. 212. I enjoy reading Historical Fiction and Inspirational Romance. I would love to read A Song in The Dark as WW2 is one of my favorite historical time periods to read about.

    I don’t play any instruments.

  213. I love Christian suspense books.
Your book sounds good because it includes sabotage and has a pianist.
I can play the piano but not that great.

  214. I love Christian Historical fiction. Regency Era England is my favorite time period. WWII is a close second, but pretty much anything prior to the 1950s can make it onto my TBR list. I would be really interested to read your book because I really enjoy learning about how ordinary people did extraordinary things to fight back against Hitler’s evilness.

  215. I love historical fiction. I’m my church’s librarian and I love to keep abreast of latest fiction. I played piano for 60 years and I also am a trumpet player. Thank you for this chance

  216. I love Christian suspense books, with or without romance. I tend to prefer contemporary. I have read several of your books and loved them, even though the reality of your Alaskan books coming true is a bit terrifying. I play the piano. And I would definitely love to read your latest book.

  217. I enjoy reading historical fiction. I tend to lean towards the WWII era or Regency Timeline but enjoy others as well.

I would love to read your new book as it’s set in one of my favorite eras and the plot sounds fantastic!

I play the piano currently and used to play the clarinet. I would love to learn guitar!

  218. “A Song in the Dark” sounds AMAZING!

I love a lot of different genres of Christian fiction, but Christian romantic suspense is my favorite. I used to play piano and flute, but I haven’t played either in a long time.

  219. A Song in the Dark is one of the best books I have read this year—and a hard copy of it is currently on my “To Buy” list!

My favorite genre of Christian fiction is historical fiction. I was blessed to read an ARC of A Song in the Dark, and I wanted to read it because I love WWII novels and the book cover and blurb caught my attention. And yes, I play the piano—and I will be learning to play the violin along with my toddler (who has been asking for a violin and lessons for almost a year now).

  220. I love historial christian romance and contemporary christian romance!! I also love suspense. Ha ha. Okay anything!! Your new release sounds good. I love WWII books! I kind of play the piano, need to practice more!

  221. I love Christian fiction so much! My library has so many different genres, and I keep finding new authors and genres that I like. I think maybe certain types speak to me more in certain seasons than in others. I’ve found myself reading historical more than anything else lately, especially Regencies. But I’m hard-pressed to pick a definitive favorite, and I have more books than bookshelves at the moment! Several of those books are yours, Kimberley, and I’ve enjoyed meeting you at MRRR. I am very interested in A Song in the Dark because it brings me back to some of the earliest Christian fiction that I really got drawn into by the Thoenes.

  222. I love historical fiction, and I’ve read many of your books! No, I can’t play an instrument but I always wished I’d learned how to play piano!

  223. I read every genre of CF, but I do love WWII stories and biblical fiction. Unfortunately I don’t play any instruments, although I did start piano lessons when I was young, and played the flute in junior high for a year. Nothing stuck, lol.
Btw, I rarely ever see my name anywhere, although I have read a couple books now with the name. However, it’s never spelled the same.
I live around some neighborhoods with people’s names as the street name, and two that I pass all the time are Charles and Woodmire, and I always think Charles Woodmire would make a great name for a character in a regency book, lol. Which then leads me to wonder where authors come up with their names, so thanks for that little tidbit! Just off the streets right around me I could name a whole book’s worth of characters. 🙂

  224. My favorite genre would have to be books centered around travel. I am intrigued about this book because I love studying history and WWII, especially. Lastly, I do not play an instrument.

  225. My favorites genres are historical and romance. After reading the description, I am invested in the story. Can’t wait to read it! I play the piano (probably not as good as Chaisley though).

  226. I love historical fiction. My favorite period is WWII, so I know I would like your books. I like the fact that you have a musician in your book as well. I look forward to reading more of your books! Thanks for the giveaway opportunity.
