ALL THINGS HIDDEN – Contest and Giveaway!

I’m SO excited!!!

Not only did I have the opportunity to write a book with one of the most amazing ladies on the planet, but it’s now AVAILABLE in both print, and digital forms! Woohoo!

Tracie Peterson and I had a blast writing ALL THINGS HIDDEN. It takes place in 1935 Alaska during the time when FDR sent 203 families to the Mat-Su Valley to “settle” a colony. These were families from Wisconsin, Minnesota, Michigan, who had hit horrific times during the Great Depression and a time of devastating drought. But they were in for a wild ride. Alaska isn’t an easy place to carve out an existence in just a few short months before winter sets in!

The historical facts and people that we laced through the story have already enamored many readers, and we are hoping it will do the same for all of you. It’s got a little bit for everyone, historical, suspense, and romance. Publisher’s Weekly even gave it a starred review (wow!) and it was chosen as a Top Pick by Romantic Times.

Another fun blog post up is a post about Sourdough and “fun” things about Alaska. Keep watching and going back to it as we add recipes and pictures and other fun stuff. We included sourdough in the book because it was a main staple (and still is for many Alaskans!) Personally, I have made sourdough bread for decades, but not until I lived in Alaska did I have the appreciation for it that I have now. 🙂 And it’s amazing. 🙂

Now for the exciting and fun news for YOU – To celebrate the launching of ALL THINGS HIDDEN – we’re having a contest!  Tracie and I are having a contest to give away 4 special Alaska baskets.  Each basket will contain books from Tracie and myself as well as our new combined story ALL THINGS HIDDEN, a nifty Alaska ornament, a book on sourdough and some other goodies.

  8. This book sounds extremely interesting from an historical standpoint. I don’t know anything about this incident from history, but would love to learn more. I noticed you are including a book on sourdough in your baskets — I recently read in one of Willa Cather’s books that a woman pioneer left raw dough in her pan (never cleaned it out) in order to make yeast for the next batch of bread. Women of yesteryear had to be extremely innovative in ways that we would never even think of (not to mention we wouldn’t find that too appetizing!!)

  10. Tracie was the first agent/editor I spoke with at my first ACFW conference. She was so encouraging. Whenever I can attend a conference I always sign up for her class. She is a fabulous author, so inspiring. I hope I win one of the Alaska baskets.

  11. Picked up the book, as you know, when you and Tracie were at Mardel. LOVE it! But if I win, I’ll simply share the extra copy with someone else and pay it forward. I know lots of readers. 🙂 The other goodies are for me. *winks*

SO excited to see this project come to fruition. I have dreamed for years of writing with Tracie. You’ve given me hope. Maybe one day it will come true.

Pegg Thomas » sourdough is the best, isn’t it? We have postcards for the new book with my Sourdough starter recipe on it. Let me know if you want me to send you one 🙂

  13. Have arrived by way of your ACFW Loop post. Very interested in the book series and entering for the contest of books. Have been studying Tracie Peterson for a year as I am writing Historical (Period) fiction targeted for LIH. Will follow your page here and continue to learn as I grow as a writer. Please enter my name into the hat.

  14. I would love to win your new book. Tracie Peterson introduced me to the ACFW back in 2000. I joined as member #46, and I still have my original membership card. After hearing Kimberly speak at the Denver North chapter of the ACFW about a year ago, I’ve been wanting to read her books too. 🙂 Congratulations to both of you!
