Golf, a Daunting Project, a New Contract, and a Wedding…

My brain is all over the place since we are getting ready for our daughter’s wedding – so this post might be a bit quirky. Just laugh with me, okay?

Here’s a pic of the cute couple who will be tying the knot in July

Ooohh! And before I forget, the amazing Tricia Goyer did an interview with me a few weeks ago. Here’s the fun video if you’d like to watch: Interview on Avid Readers

So anyway, back to the wedding. I promised my daughter I would finish a project before her wedding. A project I started years ago–putting all my recipes in one place. A project that kept getting put on the back burner. For a long time. But I’m proud to say – I actually finished. Which is shocking even to me. I love to cook. I love creating recipes. I love cherished recipes that I have from my grandmother. This project grew into a monster that I wasn’t even sure I could ever tackle. But here’s a picture of the finished project. And then a picture of what it took to make color copies of the whole thing. (I’ve got a giveaway going on over at my author page about how long it took me to copy them – so head over there and enter. lol)

I’m still thrilled over the fact that The Express Bride won the Holt Medallion last month, but even more thrilled to share that I signed another contract this past week for a new dual-timeline story called Bridge of Gold. Coming from Barbour Publishing June 2021. So make sure you watch for all the news on that front!

And just for fun, I’m going to share a golf picture. Yes, I play golf. I know to some of you that may seem comical, but it’s true. And I love it. My friend Martha and I were playing the other day and while I had some pretty stinky holes, there was one hole that was pretty phenomenal. I drove the ball farther than I probably ever have. Before I hit, I told Martha I was aiming “for the big fat tree up there” – because the tee box doesn’t have a good view of the fairway and it does a dog-leg to the right. I figured if I could at least get it in line with the tree, I should be pretty good. I was excited to see my ball fly exactly in the direction I wanted it, but because there’s a hill, we couldn’t see where it landed. When we got to it, we both laughed because it was right there at the tree. I didn’t even think I could hit it that far! So here’s a shot of the tree. And my ball in the grass πŸ™‚

I know… what excitement, right? I’m glad I could at least hopefully give you a laugh. Now this mom/author needs to go focus on being mother-of-the-bride. Speaking of author moms… you should check out our new blog. #TheAuthorMoms Click the link to learn all about this new venture.

Love to you all. Happy Reading!!

  1. I enjoyed this. I made a cookbook for my daughter before her wedding but it was much shorter 😊. And I’ve played golf for over 40 years but apparently not enough. I’ve yet to reach my goal to hit under 100. It’s a lot like writing; takes years to learn and you challenge yourself to get better. Congratulations on your upcoming book!

  2. That was a fun update/newsletter.

So, do we get a sampling of your recipes?

Will you be selling your recipe volumes or are they all compiled in one book for sale any time soon?

Best wishes on the marriage of your daughter and soon-to-be son-in-law!

And, here’s wishing you a birdie soon and zero bogeys 😁!

I/my husband enjoyed Express Bride and congratulate you on the award!

    Kind regards,

    Deborah Garcia Breckinridge

  3. How wonderful you finished your recipe project, Kim! I’m sure that was a very good feeling.
I pray that all goes smoothly with your daughter’s wedding, and you’ll be able to enjoy and treasure every moment being the MOB (Mother of the Bride). My 2 daughters had big weddings a year apart, and though it was a super busy time, I’m thankful those were happy, enjoyable times. πŸ™‚

  4. WOW! Congrats on a huge project of organizing recipes. You’re an encouragement. Your enthusiasm and joy come through loud and clear. Always waiting for another book from you!
