Twenty Years…

Christmas was amazing. Time with family and friends. Time to celebrate our Savior’s birth.

But this year, there was something I looked forward to even more than Christmas.

Drum roll please… : This week, my hubby and I will hit the big 2-0. That’s right. We’ve been married twenty years. Did you read that?
… 20
… two times ten
… four times five
… one fifth of a century
… one score
… you get the picture.

I’m sitting here totally amazed that Jeremy has put up with me all this time. It blows my mind that after 20 years, it’s even better than ever. And I’m also confused… where on earth did all that time go?

While it’s true that our oldest will soon be (gasp!) seventeen, and our baby will soon be fifteen (say it ain’t so!) – I truly am having trouble believing that this much time has passed.

Marriage is hard work. Let me say that one more time. Marriage is HARD WORK.  It’s not a bowl full of cherries, it’s not a piece of cake, a walk in the park, or filled with romance and ooey-gooey moments. In fact, it’s full of tough times, arguments, conflict, and mud puddles. Really large mud puddles.

But it is so worth it.

I’ll say that one more time. IT. IS. SO. WORTH. IT.

And wonderful, and amazing, and glorious, and joyful, and just plain fun.

This month, my grandparents also had an anniversary. SEVENTY years. Wow. 70 years together – and they’ve been an incredible example of a solid marriage all this time.

So, whether you’ve been married 20 years, or 50 years, one month, or one day – I’d like to do a shout-out this week. Post a comment about how long you’ve been married and something you love about your spouse.

I’ll start:

Hi, my name is Kim. I’ve been married 20 years. I love that Jeremy loves me unconditionally (quirks and all!) and supports my kitchen appliance/gadget habit. LOL!

Now it’s your turn…

Terry » the great things about roller coasters are they’re not just intense and hard and scary, but so much fun. And the chance to grow together is always amazing. God is so good.

I love that even though he and I have gone through 3 years of deployments, he can come home and we still finish each other’s sentences. He is my best friend and God truly designed us for each other. Thankful and blessed 🙂

  4. Dane and I have been married 44 short years. He is the most wonderful, thoughtful, kind, loving, caring, nurturing, considerate, generous, helpful husband. I’ve been disabled since June and he’s done absolutely everything for me 24/7 without hesitation or complaint. I’m slowly recovering and look forward to reclaiming my roll in our marriage. I’m so grateful that he loves me regardless of my condition or ability to fulfill my roll as his wife. Thank the Lord that He paired us so many years ago. Love you guys, Lillie
